HALLIFORD COLTS FC FOUNDED 1974
Based in the Sunbury,Shepperton,Ashford and surrounding areas
Halliford Colts officially started in 1974 with an Under 10 team formed from The Halliford Cub Pack team which had won the Scouts district shield and a Springfield School team.
The first home games were played at the pitch at the rear of The Bugle Public House, Halliford Road, Upper Halliford.
The 1st ever team was managed by Alan Brown and Peter Hardy and played in the West Surrey Boys League. Within a year two other teams were formed at different age groups and were managed by John Yena and Dave Buttler.
The first elected Chairman was Dave Buttler in 1977 with Peter Hardy the club secretary. Dave started as a Manager and continued through to U16’s.
The club team colours were the same as they are today (White shirts — Blue shorts — White socks) with Yellow shirts the change strip.
After two years the club had grown to five teams ageing from U-9 to U-13’s with club registrations at just £1.00 !! and 15p per game match fees. Further pitches were used at Cedars Rec and Lazzards Sports Ground both in Sunbury.
The Under 10 side at that time was Managed by Dave Golding who continued with the team through to U-16’s and then became the Club Secretary for 4 years and has always remained associated with the club through refereeing at the clubs annual 6-a-side tournament.
Halliford Colts FC's aim was to provide football and sport for all in the local community, with well meaning and dedicated volunteer's helping to run the club.Today the club strives to provide quality coaching for youngsters, coupled with an appreciation of the needs of youngsters to enjoy their football, finishing every game with a smile on their face, looking forward to next week’s game.
